November 21-23 (Friday - Sunday)
Level I: Introduction to Yin/Yang
Yoga and
Mindfulness Meditation
This three-day workshop will focus on long held, passive Yin postures
that prepare the body for sitting meditation. Yin Yoga is an essential
complement to the more active styles of Yoga. The Yin style also keeps
the body supple at its core, while encouraging stagnate chi (prana) to
flow throughout the joints and meridians, restoring and revitalizing
the organ system. Sarah
will present an explanation of this practice while we are in the poses.
Drawing from Buddhist themes, Sarah will also describe ways to encourage
emotional maturity and meditative awareness in our Yoga practices, as
well as in our life. A Yang (flow) style asana practice will follow,
geared toward strenghening the core while encouragaing ease and grace
in movement. We will finish the practice period with Mindfulness meditation.
Friday evening will be devoted solely to Yin and Mindfulness. One day
participation allowed Friday night only.
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in taking their practice
to an increased level of awareness and stillness, both inside and out.
Times:
Friday night: 18:00-20:00
Saturday & Sunday: 12:30-16:30
Price:
All three days: 1600
RMB for all three days.

November 24-25 (Monday - Tuesday)
Level II: Moving
Into Meditation:
Yin Yoga and Mindfulness
Meditation
This is a two-evening workshop for students who wish to go deeper
into Mindfulness Meditation. It is open only to students who have completed
the first training, Level I. We will focus on long held, passive
Yin postures that prepare the body for sitting meditation. The Yin
style also keeps the body supple at its core while encouraging stagnate
chi (prana) to flow throughout the joints, making it a wonderful
precursor to meditation. During the Yin session, Sarah will share
how the YIn practice can develop our meditative awareness, helping
us understand and practice Buddhist Mindfulness more skillfuly. A
seated meditation session will follow the Yoga practice.
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in taking their practice
to an increased level of awareness and stillness, both inside and out.

About
Sarah Powers: Sarah Powers began teaching in 1987. She interweaves
the insights and practices of Yoga and Buddhism into an integral practice
to enliven the body, heart and mind. Her Yoga style blends both a Yin
sequence of long held poses to enhance the meridian and organ systems,
combined with a flow or Yang practice, influenced by ViniYoga, Ashtanga,
and Iyengar teachings. Sarah feels that enlivening the physical and
pranic bodies, as well as learning to open to our emotional difficulties
is paramount for preparing one to deepen and nourish insights into
one's essential nature--a natural state of awareness. She draws from
her studies in Transpersonal Psychology, as well as her in-depth training
in the Vipassana, Tantric and Dzogchen practices of Buddhism. She is
co-founder of Metta Journeys, a service oriented
organization that offers Yoga retreats internationally to help women
and children in developing countries. She also teaches trainings and
silent retreats with her husband Ty. They live with their teen-age
daughter Imani-Jade in Marin, California. She is author of the upcoming
book Insight Yoga : Integrating Yin/Yang Yoga and Buddhist Meditation
. For more information on her please see her DVDs: Yoga, Yin and Vinyasa
