About Theresa:

Theresa, known as Taozi 桃子 (Peach) to her Chinese students, has been a playful yogini since 2005 and began teaching in Beijing in 2008. Upon arrival in China she began a 2 year YTT intensive with her guru Uton Laoshi, focusing on Ashtanga and energy meridians. In Bali, Indonesia in 2011 she completed a 250hr 5 Element Form/Hatha YTT with Santosha studying under yoga master Peter Clifford. In 2012 she spent 3 months in India where she studied Ayurvedic medicine in Kerala, followed by the completion of Ashtanga (Patabi-Jois), Pre/Post Natal and Yoga Therapy/Restorative YTT with Hatha Yoga Mysore. In Rishikesh, India, the yoga capital of the world, she completed another 300hr Hatha/traditional yoga studies YTT at Rishikesh Yog Peeth. She is currently working on deepening her study of Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT). In February of 2015 she began the biggest training of her life when she became a mother. With over 1000hrs of YTT experience Theresa is always thrilled to share the depth of her practice with others. She works privately with yoga therapy clients and also teaches group classes at the Yoga Yard. Her classes are an eclectic mix of all the things she has learned and loved from her gurus around the world. In every class you will find at the heart, prana, along with a balance between force and ease, a combination to help students find the divine that already resides within. Theresa has taught in China, the US, Mexico and Uganda and continues to expand the breadth of her personal and teaching practice globally. Theresa is founder of Taozi Tree Yoga which teaches women in Uganda how to sew the worlds best yoga mat bags. A self-sustainable solution to bringing vulnerable women out of extreme poverty in Uganda. Theresa’s life philosophy is that “The seeds we water are the seeds that grow” -wherever we decide to put our energy, our thoughts, and our actions are the areas of our lives that will grow. Today, we can choose a path of yoga and watch the fruits of spirituality, health and lightheartedness flourish in our own lives- thus impacting our ability to positively be of service to others- the ultimate purpose of our being.
